Digital Audio Corporation's Statement of Section 508 Support

The primary mission for DAC's products is the direct or indirect support of the collection and processing of audio intelligence information by law enforcement, intelligence, and military organizations. Accordingly, DAC's products are exempt from Section 508 requirements as stated in Part 1194.3(a) listed below:

§ 1194.3 General exceptions.

(a) This part does not apply to any electronic and information technology operated by agencies, the function, operation, or use of which involves intelligence activities, cryptologic activities related to national security, command and control of military forces, equipment that is an integral part of a weapon or weapons system, or systems which are critical to the direct fulfillment of military or intelligence missions. Systems which are critical to the direct fulfillment of military or intelligence missions do not include a system that is to be used for routine administrative and business applications (including payroll, finance, logistics, and personnel management applications).

It is our intent and desire to satisfy the spirit of Section 508 with regard to specific accessibility issues, most notably:

  • Alternative keyboard navigation and touchscreen support for software applications
  • Provision of mechanisms for private listening (headphone jacks)
  • Auditory output and adjustable volume controls
  • Location of controls in accessible reach ranges
